Snowflake Obsidian - Palmstone Quality:Staff Pick It is added to loveMined from: Utah, USA Description: Snowflake Obsidian is a type of volcanic glass known for its striking black appearance with white, snowflake like patterns. The patterns are created by the inclusion of a crystalline mineral called cristobalite, which forms as the obsidian cools. Cristobalite is a high temperature polymorph of silica (silicon dioxide), meaning it has the same chemical composition as quartz (SiO) but a different crystal structure.
